Club Championship, Round 6   2006-11-01 12:20

A, S (1664) - Samuraipawn (1344)      http://www.chesslog.de/users/Samuraipawn/?game=606
KM 06, Gothenburg, 2006.10.31

  1.c4   f5   2.Nf3   Nf6   3.Nc3   g6   4.d3   Bg7   5.e3   d6   6.d4   O-O Playing the Leningrad Dutch for the first time. 7.g3   c6   8.Bg2   Qe8 Preparing e5 and eyeing the kingside for future prospects. 9.d5   Na6   10.O-O   Bd7   11.Rb1   c5 Here Fritz recommended the move 11...e5 leading to equality. I didn't consider this move after white played d5. 12.a3   Rb8   13.Re1   b5   14.cxb5   Bxb5 In this position I really felt like I had controll over the game. Especially since his bishops are rather cramped while mine are enjoying quite a lot of scope. 15.Ng5   Nc7 The square e6 is a weak square in the Leningrad. 16.e4   fxe4   17.Ngxe4   Ba6 Trying to hang on to my bishop I miss a simple pin. 17...Nxe4 is better. 18.Nxd6   Qd7   19.Nde4   Nxe4   20.Nxe4   Qf5 Now I thought this was one of my best moves in the game. Fritz was happy to give it a questionmark though. Still, it puts pressure on f2 and pins the white knight. 21.Be3   Rbd8   22.Nxc5   Bc4   23.Qa4   Bxd5   24.Bxd5+   Nxd5   25.Qc4   Kh8   26.Bd4   e5   27.f4   Nxf4   28.Be3   Nh3+   29.Kg2 A critical point in the game. Here I should have played 29...Qf3+, winning at worst a queen for a rook. 29... Ng5 A horrible move! 30.Bxg5   Rd4 Time trouble sets in and we both fight to reach move 40. 31.Qe2   Re8   32.Ne4   h6   33.Bd2   Rc8   34.Bc3   Rd5   35.Rf1   Qd7   36.Qa6   Rc6   37.Qa4   Qe6   38.Qc2   Qd7   39.Qf2   Rc8 1-0 I didn't have time to write down the last moves, but I was a piece down and my pieces were a mess. I resigned.

L, C aka Samuraipawn (1344) - K, S (1700)      http://www.chesslog.de/users/Samuraipawn/?game=593
KM 06 (1), Gothenburg, 2006.09.26

  1.e4   Nf6   2.Nc3   d5 This was the first time I had encountered this opening. I had no idea what to do and ended up in an inferior position quite fast. 3.exd5   Nxd5   4.Nf3   Bg4   5.Nxd5   Qxd5   6.Be2   Nc6   7.O-O   e5   8.d3   O-O-O   9.Nd2   Bxe2   10.Qxe2   Nd4   11.Qd1   Qc5   12.c3   Ne6   13.Nb3   Qd5   14.Be3   f5   15.d4   f4   16.c4 Sacrificing a pawn for some counterplay down the c-file. 16... Qxc4   17.Rc1   Qd5   18.Bd2   e4   19.Qc2   Bd6   20.Rfe1   Nxd4   21.Nxd4   Qxd4   22.Rxe4   Qf6   23.Bb4   Rd7   24.Rc4   Rhd8   25.h3 To avoid the risk of a bank rank #. 25... g5   26.Qa4   a6   27.Rc6 When I found this move I got overjoyed. After 28.Rxa6 bxa6 29.Qxa6+ I would have a perpetual + against a opponent rated 750 points over me. 27... Qxb2 This move I didn't see coming. I lost my fighting spirit and played awfully the rest of the game. 28.R1c2   Qxb4   29.Rxa6   bxa6 0-1 White resigns. After this game I decided to never give up, no matter how terrible my position would be.

L, C (1344) - B, J (1472)      http://www.chesslog.de/users/Samuraipawn/?game=564
KM 06 (4), Gothenburg, 2006.10.17

  1.e4 martin test comment 1... e5   2.Nc3   Nc6   3.f4 This move initiates my first Vienna Gambit. 3... exf4   4.Nf3   d6   5.d4   g5   6.h4   g4   7.Ng5   h6   8.Nxf7 White sacrifices a piece to prevent black from castling. 8... Kxf7   9.Bc4+ The attack commences. 9... Ke8   10.Bxf4   Bd7   11.O-O   Qxh4   12.g3   Qe7 A mistake since white gets to bring the c3 knight into action. 13.Nd5   Qd8 To prevent Knxc7+. 14.Qd2 Bringing the a1 rook into the battlefield and restricting the c6 knight. 14... Bg7   15.e5 To open up more lines towards black's king. 15... dxe5   16.Rae1   Nf6   17.dxe5   Nxd5   18.Qxd5 Finally the queen comes out to play and threatens # at f7. 18... Qe7   19.e6   Bc8   20.Bb5 Black is lost. 20... Qd8 A blunder which gives white in two. 21.Qh5+   Ke7   22.Qf7# 1-0
